John J. Phelan III - Partner

John “Jack” Phelan is the senior partner at Phelan, Phelan, & Danek, LLP, and was one of the founding partners of the firm. He concentrates his practice in the defense of medical malpractice and construction litigation, and is also a certified arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. A proven trial lawyer, Jack thrives on the competition of trial and the science of medicine.

Jack has tried over 160 cases to verdict in New York State and Federal Courts, and has also served as general counsel to a large construction and development family of companies. He has lectured throughout New York State on construction litigation issues and trial practice. Jack is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who In American Law, and the Top 1% of Trial Counsel for Medical Malpractice Defense Attorneys in New York State. He is also a Senior Fellow of The Litigation Counsel of America, member of the Order of the Centurions (Over 100 Jury Verdicts), Fellow of the International Academy of Construction Lawyers, and a charter member of the American Academy of Malpractice Lawyers. Jack enjoys sports and activities with his family, including wife Robin and children Jack, Kelsie, Kate, and Ben. He regularly scuba dives with his family.

Jack enjoys sports and doing things with his family, wife Robin, and four children; Jack, Kelsie, Kate and Ben. He enjoys scuba diving, and regularly dives with his children. He is a team coach and a former board member with the Capital District Pop Warner, and is the team photographer with the Guilderland High School Varsity Football team. Jack also plays golf, and like most former football players, is a long ball hitter.
